General Information:
Set in six acres, all the waters have regularly produced good catches since they were opened to day ticket anglers over 15 years ago.
This is a mixed fishery where the pleasure angler and the matchman alike can bag up. When the lakes are fishing well (and they usually are) 50 - 150 lbs in a day is possible. Pleasure bags of 20 lbs plus are commonplace. Through the winter months, quality roach fishing is supplemented by bonus carp and tench. It is genuinely a water for all seasons.
Many anglers have caught their biggest ever fish, or had their best ever total catch in a day, however, most people come to South View (and keep coming back year after year) because of the atmosphere. There is disabled access and a toilet on site.
Holiday Accommodation:
Bed and Breakfast
The three guest bedroooms have views over the garden and lawn, are light, spacious and well presented, with comfort and cleanliness our priority. T.V & Tea/coffee making facilities are provided. One large room with ensuite, or offered as a double plus twin room, for family members sharing the facilities. One double with private bathroom immediately opposite the bedroom. The accommodation is completely double glazed and centrally heated, with log fires to back up a chilly evening, ensuring you have a relaxing break when you visit us for business or pleasure. We have installed broadband wireless connection for your laptop. The fishery is a short drive from the house, or a pleasant walk through the orchard of apple, pear, and plum trees to the lakes.
Traditional farmhouse fare cooked on the Aga is served at breakfast, or something light if you prefer, the choice is yours. We serve locally produced food where possible, and will cater for special diets if required. Local country village inns offer a good selection of food, for your evening meal.
Directions:
Coming Down the A38 from the Plymouth Direction
Turn left off the A38 just after the Happy Eater restaurant (opposite Exeter racecourse) and at the T junction turn left on the Dunchideock road then follow the directions as above. Follow the road towards Dunchideock for approximately 1.5 miles and watch out for a road which forks off on the right signposted (not very well) for Clapham. Follow this road over a minor crossroads down to the bottom. Turn left and immediately sweep right up the hill towards Shillingford. The fishery is about three quarters of a mile on your left, just before you enter the village.
